Documents Required for BCI Registration in Karnataka State

If you have completed your LLB degree and want to practice law in Karnataka, the first and most important step is to enroll with the Karnataka State Bar Council (KSBC). Enrollment with the State Bar Council allows you to officially register as an advocate, after which you can appear for the All-India Bar Examination (AIBE) conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI) to receive your Certificate of Practice (COP).

To complete this process smoothly, you need to keep certain documents ready.

✅ List of Documents Required for Enrollment with Karnataka State Bar Council

  1. LLB Degree Certificate / Provisional Certificate – Proof that you have successfully completed your law degree.

  2. Consolidated Marks Cards / Semester-wise Marks Sheets – Academic record of your law course.

  3. SSLC / 10th Marks Card – For date of birth verification.

  4. PUC / 12th Marks Card – Educational qualification proof.

  5. UG Degree Certificate – Mandatory if you pursued a 3-year LLB course.

  6. Transfer Certificate / Migration Certificate – If applicable.

  7. Passport Size Photographs – (Usually 6–8 recent photos in advocate’s dress: white shirt, black coat, tie).

  8. Identity Proof – Aadhaar Card / Voter ID / Driving License / Passport.

  9. Proof of Address – Aadhaar / Ration Card / Utility Bill.

  10. Caste / Category Certificate – For candidates applying under SC / ST / OBC categories.

  11. Internship / Training Certificate – If mandated by your law college or Bar Council.

  12. Stamp Papers – (As per KSBC rules, generally for affidavit and declaration purposes).
